Civic Engagement

Civic Engagement opportunities provide forums for parents, caregiver and community leaders to address broader community issues; these opportunities also support efforts to initiate new activities addressing family and community concerns, providing a window into how participants can initiate positive impacts in their communities through:

  • Policy Links connect parents and caregivers to venues addressing broader policies which impact their families and communities; this provides venues where parent and grassroots leaders can connect directly with policymakers and resource managers so public officials hear directly from community members in a productive format.
  • Mentoring Conferences focus on creating opportunities for sharing parent and caregiver voices from the range of experiences they encounter advocating for their families and engaging in various leadership roles.
  • Community Visioning events allow leaders to collaborate on visions for their community as a potential driver of future policies and resource management; these events can help cast a vision of the future towards which community leaders can direct their leadership skills.
