Community Connections

Community Connections engages participants through various means to encourage mutual learning, build greater awareness of leadership and advocacy skills and opportunities, and identify how parents might work together to expand their voice. Outreach options include:

• Peer Support is intended to provide ongoing opportunities for parent/caregiver/community-leaders to learn from one another; FAM-Net will host chat rooms and other venues for parents to connect with each other, share resources and experiences, and brainstorm new opportunities.
• Social Media outlets are utilized to share successes and challenges, and to encourage participation and capacity building.
• Messaging includes texts and emails intended to enhance participant awareness of new opportunities, share inspirational stories, share capacity-building tips, and provide another e-venue for communications.
• Surveys provide another means of continuous improvement in systems, materials, capacity building, connectivity to opportunities, and other elements of FAM-Net; surveys can also be used to identify the assets of organizations and participants to advance the effectiveness and goals of FAM-Net.
