Learning Center

The Learning Center is currently comprised of three options for parents, caregivers and community members, depending on local government support and participant preference and availability. Each option provides opportunities for participants to build their capacity and effectiveness as leaders and advocates for their family and community. These programs seek to meet people where they are, providing additional insights and skills, regardless of level of experience. Certificates of Completion are provided to all who successfully complete Learning Center options, which will be acknowledged on the Participant Roster as an additional accomplishment and as additional information for organizations which are part of the Organizational Hub. The three options are:

  • An “Academy” approach, such as the Parent Leadership Training Institute, establishes a small cohort of parents (20-25 participants) and provides a more intensive, in-depth experience, while interacting with other participants; this option depends on local government support and funding.
  • An “Online, At-Your-Own Pace” option, as provided by the FAM-Net Academy on Community Action (ACA). This course is designed especially for those who need flexibility in time availability. ACA is comprised of 12 learning modules, each requiring about 60 minutes to complete. This option is totally dependent on the participant’s schedule and commitment.
  • Virtual or in-person workshops are occasional events offered to provide capacity building on specific topics requested by members of the Participant Roster and/or Organizational Hub, such as policy making, becoming trauma informed, conflict resolution and facilitative leadership; this option will be open to all on the Participant Roster as they are scheduled.
